NYSC Scheme in Anambra State has announced the receipt of Utility Vehicle donated by the State government. While making this announcement in a welcome address she delivered during Batch A 2014 Swearing-in ceremony at NYSC Temporary Orientation Umunya, Oyi LGA , the Coordinator of the Scheme in the State, Mrs Inyang Bassey Ekpe said the vehicle has been received. She noted that the vehicle, a Ford Ranger would facilitate adequate Inspection and monitoring of Corps members in the State. she however expressed appreciation to the State Governor Mr. Peter Obi for the gesture and promised to utilize the vehicle for the purpose it was given.
In a similar development, Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State on Thursday donated two, 36-seater buses worth N30 million to the National Youths Service Corps ( NYSC) scheme.
Wamakko announced the donation at the swearing in of batch “A” 2014 corps members deployed to the state at the just-completed N1billion permanent orientation camp constructed by the State Government.
Wamakko said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the transportation problems of the corps members and NYSC officials in the state.
“The scheme has proved to be crucial to the nation’s unity, peace and progress, and even for its socioeconomic development.’’
The governor advised the corps members to continue to uphold the virtues of honesty, dedication and the fear of God.
According to him, these sterling virtues are needed to ensure the sustained national development, peace and unity.
The Chairman of state NYSC Governing Board, Alhaji Haliru Tambuwal, said government and the NYSC management had made adequate arrangements to ensure the welfare and security of the corps members.
The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mr Thomas Yamma, said 1,042 corps members were registered under the batch as at midnight of Wednesday.
Yamma commended the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III and Wamakko for their sustained support to the scheme.
