Advice for Prospective Corps Members going Camp from a Serving Corps member

Well anambra state is cool, i am a batch c 2013 corp member serving at Anaku, Ayamelum. The camp is cool very cool here are the likes and cons i experienced during the orientation.

CHARGING OF PHONES
If you a blackberry or cheap android user you would want to limit the use of your device because there is usually electricity but no socket outlet to plug your device. Lack of socket outlet was done on purpose by the camp board because they want YOU to go to the mammi to pay 50 naira per charge of your device. And dont bring your laptop or a tablet bigger than 7inches, because its not gonna be easy to carry around

WATER SUPPLY
Those people are stingy with water, to get water you'll have to be smart to manage, i recalled making use of 1 bucket of water to do a laundry of 2shirts and a pair of socks and also having my bath with that same quantity. I remember my first day on camp, i was so not into cue that i got pissed and purchased a bag of sachet water to fill a bucket to bath. Luckily i'm not the sweaty type but of you dey sweat omo your own red ooo. Throughout my stay rain no fall one day. I fear this state oooo

CAMP FOOD
The camp is usually supplied with 3 cows per week. These cows can be so small that even goat go dey oppress am. The camp food can have very good aroma, you get 3 meals per day. The food aint critically bad trust me. I only had rice once from there and never bothered going for rice again. But i'm a champion for beans. I never missed beans because its stays long in my stomach. I will give the food 3 stars out of 5.

BATHROOM AND TOILET
During my stay on camp i never ever got close to these 2 places because from what my hostel mates say its critical, so i do shortput. YES shotput is ALLOWED nobody will question you. And i have my bath either as early as 3am or 8,9pm. I have my bath OUTSIDE at the corner of my hostel. No fear its officially allowed

MAMMI MARKET
Well things are not as expensive as they say in the mammi market, a plate of rice there is 200 naira and its neat and ok to the eye, but if you have VHM very high metabolism like me one plate no go reach. Every thing you need is at the mammi market, you can even buy nysc kakki there because the kit nysc is gonna give you is crazy. Take my advice buy rubber shoes from mammi its between 300 to 500 naira, its light to wear and easy to clean because your tennis shoes is gonna change to white in under 2 days from parade marching.

PARADE AND ARMY
I was really good at marching, and i was always present on parade all the army official are very VERY nice they were one of the best people i enjoyed they can be very funny. Trust me. I just hope they wont change them ooo. My platoon was platoon 8 and my parade commander and junior parade commander was a male and female. The woman and man are very nice inface all the army officials are nice and friendly to talk to. Parade sha was another problem we come out 3 times every day except sunday which is the only free day. 5am every day till 7 am then breakfast then back to parade by 9 or 10 am till 12 or 1pm then lunch then to parade 3.30pm till 6 pm or 5pm then its over for the day. Light out which is bedtime is 10pm. The usual punishment is frog jump nothing that serious. The first 4 days on camp was the longest days of my life. You gonna experience the same.

PHOTOGRAPHY
The photographers will do any thing for a shot, 150 naira per photo. Take my advice when arriving camp some photo clan will want to influence you into signing up for video coverage, it 500 naira upfront and 500 naira later, total of 1000 naira dont sign up at all its waste of money because they wont cover anything resembling your face.

AMOUNT TO CARRY TO CAMP
Well i left home with 25k i'm a heavy spender cuz i eat alot, in the second week my pocket got dry but i got money from a pos via my atm card they charge you 100 naira per 1000 you withdraw. Roughly i used up to 40k and left camp with 3000. Take my advice carry nothing less than 18k trust me. I will tell u why in the allowee section.

ALLOWEE
On the 2nd week you will be given 1500 and 3rd week 1000, note that you may not be given your 19800, anambra developed this cashless policy where they will send you to your Ppa without a penny, so hold enough. Because you dont wanna be stranded in a desert.

SKILL ACQUISITION
Those guys doing seminar on skill acquisition are looking for your money, they will lecture you then later ask you to pay for books, cds, and you can even buy a certificate for 1500, this happens on the 2nd week of camp. My own na opportunity to sleep. The lecture is 5hours and 70 percent of us there just sleep. Trust me you sef go sleep.

CAMP HEADS
The name of the camp cordinator is Mrs Bassey Inyang Ekpe. The woman sometimes dey talk like saint but dey treat person like say she be lucifer sister, i say this because during skill acquisition lecture they brought out some corpers to sit under the sun behold amongst them was a pregnant woman. People come dey swear for this woman oo. So be careful. THE Other is the sad dist director who always tells us in the morning that he is not happy.

NOTES
always wear your nysc camp
Dont be at mammi after 10pm
No fighting
Shine your eye because most indigins can dress like corpers to sneak into the hostel to steal
Buy padlock because of lack of water your bonk mates and others can steal bucket or water so padlock the hand of your bucket to the bed.
If you wan go camp for Reproduction sake, na only bush you go fit rush one so no bother pack that kind thing for mind. My set the girls were so ugly and Fat.
For those planning to relocate, if you relocating on marriage ground, you in luck them go carry you go where you want. If its on health grounds your own red because they will never carry you to the state you apply for. NEVER. I wanted to relocate to delta with hope that i may land at edo state but i change my mind, a friend of mine who diddnt is at oyo now another is in kwara.

PLACE OF PRIMARY ASSIGNMENT.
Note that after living camp you are to report to your ppa, i was posted to an estate like place in anaku, and i love it here because i dont need to transport myself anywhere except the bank which is 150 to 300 in cost. I can stay a week and not spend a dime, sometime if i spend too much i do 1500 that is if i spend like crazy. I am serving at a catholic school.

Yes another thing very important
If you coming to umunya camp from places like lagos, edo, delta, oyo, ogun. You can drop at Onitsha. From Onitsha it cost 150, 200, 250 to umunya camp ots just by the road side. When you drop at the camp some bike me will be doing competition for who will lift you, the cost is usually 50 naira dont know how much now but it shouldnt exceed 80 naira.
If you coming from nearby states you can come on the day the camp opens, but if na far state you can still travel that same day but the cue and sun will turn albino to baba salla. Registration can be done 2 hours if you smart but if you dull well depends. But if you come to camp and dont finish that day there is always a place to sleep so no fear.
MY CONCLUSION IS THAT UMUNYA CAMP AT ANAMBRA STATE IS GOOD
