What you should know about NYSC Relocation
I am compelled to write this piece because many Corps members and prospective ones seemed to be unaware of what NYSC Relocation really means. Some of them think it is an opening for those who are already working to get posted back to the State where their jobs are domiciled. The truth is that it is not. It only approved on two grounds- Marital and Health.
Relocation is actually meant to enable MARRIED women to move close to their husband. NYSC as you know has a great respect for the sanctity of marriage institution. Relocation opportunity therefore ensures that families are not torn apart because the wife has been deployed to serve the nation. However, this offer is not enjoyed by a married man who has been posted out from the family. What a pity!
The other group of Corps members, who could benefit from Relocation, is the Sick ones. The mistake most prospective Corps members make, is to think that they can claim they have malaria and they would be sent back to their home state or any other place they so desire. NYSC gives this offering for only the Corps members suffering from Life threatening illnesses. And what are the Life threatening illnesses? I can hear someone asking....
Well there is no hard and fast rule on what is categorized as life threatening ILLNESSES. It is the Orientation Camps medical committee that determines what illness to recommend and those ones not to recommend. You know, every camp has a Medical committee responsible for these things .The Committee is made up Camp officials and Some Corps Doctors who usually look at the applicants Doctor's medical report. And because some Corps members often present forged medical reports, the Committee go to the extent of interviewing each of them with a view to determine who is actually who. Sorrrrrry .....for you guys who are thinking of printing 'oluwole' medical reports. But from experience such sicknesses as Mental breakdown, epilepsy, Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Kidney problems and Heart diseases etc receive frequent recommendation from the medical committee.
In the next post , I am going continue with the procedure for applying for relocation . Please don't fail to tell us what you think about this write up.
