It is no news that the Federal Government appointed
Johnson Olawumi (Brig. Gen)as the new Director-General of the National Youth
Service Corps, NYSC. He replaced Brig.Gen. Nnamdi Thomas Okore-Affia who just retired
Brig.Gen Olawumi, who hails from Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State, attended the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on September 23, 1989.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the Nigerian Defence Academy and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florin. Brig. Gen
Olawumi, who also has a Master’s
degree in Defence Studies from the Kings College, London, is happily
married and has children.
