Why we canceled relocation - NYSC

Why I disapprove relocation of 1,000 corps members, by NYSC DG

The Director-General, National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, says the Corps has blocked the relocation of 1,000 corps members over unethical practices in the 2021 relocation processes.

Ibrahim disclosed this at the sideline of 2021 Workshop for Inspectors’ Development Programme (IDP) for staff of the organisation in Abuja on Wednesday.

The workshop is with the theme: “Optimising the Ideals of the Scheme through Effective Utilisation of the NYSC Inspector.”

He also warned the members of staff, who were involved in such practices to desist or face disciplinary actions.

”Some corps members that we believe were involved in some unethical practices in an attempt to compromise our relocation processes were cancelled.

“The challenges are that some people are tempting to compromise our staff and get themselves involved in unethical practices and so on.

“Recently, we have to block some of our corps members because we won’t condole any act of indiscipline and we are not going to compromise our mobilisation process; our deployment and relocation is free.

“We approved the relocation but when it was done, we later discovered that there were some unethical practices and we cancelled it.

“And, we are still investigating, so anybody involved will be disciplined accordingly. We have blocked 1,000 Corps members nationwide, involved in such practices,” he said.

On the workshop, Ibrahim said it was necessary to equip the participants toward developing the right attitude and skills necessary to handle challenges in routine operations of the scheme.

He added that it would enable the scheme adopt measures for the elimination of all forms of hiccups militating against its operations through the intensification of engagement with critical stakeholders at the grassroots.

“The inspectors are  in the inspectors cadre and they are always in the nooks and cranny of this country dealing with corps members.

“So, it is very important for us to train them and retrain them, so that they will be in tune with our best practices and that is the essence of this training.

“Some of them were employed in 2010 and they have not undergone this training and it is important for us to do this because human development is very critical to the success of any organisation,” he added.

Similarly, Mr Ayodele Omotade, Director, Corps Welfare and Health Services Department, said the organisation placed high premium on training and retraining of its workforce to meet with contemporary societal challenges.

Omotade said that the inspectorate cadre were usually in the frontline of policy implementation at the grassroots, hence the need for the training to equip them to face challenges of Corps administration.

He, therefore, called on participants to pay rapt attention to resource persons so as to be sufficiently equipped to carry out their monitoring and mentoring duties to corps members.

Information on NYSC Batch C 2014 Online Registration.

NYSC 2014 Batch ‘C’ Service:

ONLINE REGISTRATION OF LOCAL AND FOREIGN-TRAINED NIGERIAN PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS AND PRINTING OF CALL-UP LETTERS
NYSC has commenced Online registration of prospective  Nigerian graduates (both foreign and locally trained) for 2014 Batch ‘C’ mobilisation exercise. All my readers are to note that all  mobilisation processes will be online. Below are the procedure and necessary information:

All Prospective Corps Members are required to register online at the NYSC portal, www.nysc.org.ng or portal.nysc.gov.ng or go to www.nysc.gov.ng to link the portal.  Please note that information on accredited registration centres nationwide is available on the home page www.nysc.org.ng.

All graduates from Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics/Monotechnics and those affiliated to them (whether full-time or part-time) are expected to carry out their biometric-enabled online registration using their Matriculation Numbers and JAMB Registration Numbers.  Also, those for Revalidation (i.e. prospective corps members who were mobilized earlier but for one reason or the other could not report for the orientation course) must equally register online.

All prospective corps members are to register online.  Those who wish to get their Call-up numbers by SMS/email and subsequently print their Call-up letters online are to pay the sum of Four Thousand Naira (₦4,000.00) using any Bank’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Cards or the PIN Vending option from any bank in Nigeria.

The feature allows them to print and reprint their call-up letters online in case of loss of call-up letters and also facilitates accelerated camp processing at the Orientation camps.

However, those who wish to collect their call-up letters from their Institution need not pay the Four Thousand Naira (₦4,000.00) after the online registration.  Meanwhile, members of the public should know that with effect from 2015 Batch ‘A’ all prospective Corps members have to print their Call-up letters online.

The online registration for NYSC 2014 Batch ‘C’ service  commenced on the 20th August 2014 and will end on 12th October 2014.
